Important Update for macOS Catalina

This version of Vanilla adds key compatibility features for macOS Catalina.

Please install this update to Vanilla before you upgrade to macOS Catalina.

This is a beta release to validate our new update channel.

If you are using the beta version of Vanilla, please install this update. If you have any trouble, please contact me at [email protected].

This is a key update to install in order to receive planned future updates to Vanilla

This version of Vanilla changes how we publish and deliver updates, as well as introducing new licensing and security methods. (It's now self-hosted – no more third parties!)

A couple of critical bug fixes off the back of our previous Version 1.1 release for Mojave.

Mojave and More!

This update is a huge improvement to Vanilla. It adds complete support for macOS Mojave. Plus – for every version of macOS – nicer Dark Mode, sweet performance improvements, and much better multi-monitor support.

(I had to buy an external monitor to fix the multi-monitor issues, so if, y'know, you want to hurl some money my way that’d be cool.)

This update fixes an issue on macOS High Sierra where changing external monitors, changing the screen resolution, or changing from light to dark mode would cause a second Vanilla bar to appear on screen and get stuck there.

High Sierra compatibility

This version of Vanilla improves compatibility with High Sierra, including a fix for the start at login preference not registering correctly.

Thanks for submitting your bug reports, and please keep them coming as you spot issues! There are still a few bugs with High Sierra, but I'll try to get those fixed in a future release 😄

These update contains some super important fixes and updates to Vanilla

Fixes the most common crashing bugs in Vanilla 🎉

Huge thanks to everyone who has bought a license! I'm only able to keep sanding off these rough edges because of the people who support the app.

This version of Vanilla improves multi-monitor support, dark mode, performance improvements, and full screen support. Also, if you've upgraded to the Pro version and you've set Vanilla to start when you log in, the Preferences window will no longer show.

I'm still working on some of the rough edges around full screen mode—this release adds the bare minimum but I'm planning to make it better.

Huge thank you to everyone who has supported Vanilla so far! I've been totally amazed and overwhelmed by the response—the reason the 1.0 was so buggy was because I was convinced no one cared about having a minimalist menu bar as much as I did 😂.

Also, a challenge. If you've got a good eye or you're a designer, and you think you can nail the blur/filter effects that the menu bar does to your desktop image, please get in touch—I'll pay you.

Again, thank you to everyone who's downloaded, shared, used, or upgraded Vanilla. It really means a lot to me.

Vanilla. Hide menu bar icons on your Mac.
